A history of great authors

All the literary organisations listed above are helping to maintain a long tradition of literature in West Sussex.

The county has associations with some of the greats of the written word, from Tennyson, Shelley and William Blake through to 20th century writers like HG Wells, Melvyn Peake, Hilaire Belloc, John Galsworthy and onwards to today's crop of successful West Sussex writers
