Pagham
The village of Pagham sits on the edge of Pagham Harbour - an amazing place right at the borderline between the land and the sea. Over the centuries the area now occupied by Pagham Harbour has oscillated between successful attempts to reclaim it as farmland, followed by disaster when the sea decided that it wanted the harbour back.
The shallow waters of Pagham Harbour are now a valuable Nature Reserve, maybe not as well populated by birds as Chichester Harbour (which is much bigger), but much loved by birds and people alike nonetheless. Pagham Harbour is a great place to walk and a really interesting place to get your head round the awesome power of Nature. Pagham Beach is a quite popular with fishermen.
The Crab and Lobster Pub at the Sidlesham side of Pagham Harbour makes a good spot for a beer and a lovely view of the harbour. The pub also has a good ghost story associated with it.

The Friends of Pagham Harbour raise money to help look after the Nature Reserve at Pagham; this goes to furthering knowledge about the special environment in the Nature Reserve as well as helping with some of the costs of maintaining Pagham Harbour to a high standard.
