The South Downs Way
above Bepton on Bepton Down
Although the views are intermittent, you can see right across the Weald to the north of West Sussex.
The most prominent landmarks are Blackdown, the TV mast at Bexley Hill and the sprawl of the pretty small town of Midhurst, which has several good places to stay.
The valley across which you are looking is that of the River Rother which starts its journey near Petersfield and joins the River Arun at Pulborough before cutting through the Downs at Amberley and continuing on to the sea at Littlehampton.
